Baptist Health Plan withdrawing from fully insured insurance market — 5 key notes

Baptist Health Plan of Lexington will exit the fully insured health insurance market, the Lexington Herald Leader reports.

Here's what you should know:

1. The payer said it's withdrawing from the market because of the changing regulatory environment.

2. The payer claims it is financially sound, and that it will pay out remaining claims.

3. Baptist Health Plan stopped issuing fully insured policies on July 1.

4. The majority of affected customers will be in Kentucky and Southern Indiana.

5. In October 2016, the payer also withdrew from Kentucky's individual health insurance markets. Baptist Health Plan is the state's fifth largest payer.
