Here’s where ASC reimbursements stand today.

In November, CMS finalized a 3.1% payment rate for ASCs in its 2024 final rule. This is a 0.3% increase from the proposed rule.

This increase was determined based on a projected inflation rate of 3.3%, less the multifactor productivity reduction of 0.2% mandated by the Affordable Care Act, according to a Feb. 13 article from VMG Health.

The ruling is a decrease from 2023’s 3.8% payment rate for ASCs.

CMS projected total ASC payments to increase to about $7.1 billion in 2024. This is an increase of about $207 million compared to estimated 2023 Medicare payments, according to VMG Health.
