AHIMA Receives NCCA Accreditation for Certified Coding Associate Program

The American Health Information Management Association announced it has been granted accreditation for its Certified Coding Associate program through April 2015 from the National Commission for Certifying Agencies, the accreditation body of the Institute for Credentialing Excellence, according to an AHIMA news release.

“This milestone achievement exemplifies AHIMA’s more than 80-year commitment to high standards, accountability, independent assessment and transparency…Through accreditation, AHIMA demonstrates solidly its capabilities to serve as trusted broker of excellence and professionalism anywhere in the world there is a need for competent professionals in HIM to pursue and deliver quality healthcare through quality information,” Robert Nelson, MBA, CAE, FACHE, senior vice president of marketing and strategic business development and managing director of global operations for AHIMA, said in the release.

The CCA designation, an entry-level credential, has been a nationally accepted standard of achievement in the health information management field since 2002, with more than 800 people attaining this credential, according to the release.
