After ACA woes, Arizona’s two remaining payers to offer plans in 2018 — 4 insights

After several payers withdrew from Arizona’s ACA exchange in 2017, the two remaining payers elected to continue offering coverage into next year, AZcentral reports.

Here’s what you should know.

1. Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Arizona and Centene’s Ambetter from Health Net will remain in Arizona’s exchanges in 2018.

2. Ambetter will cover Arizona’s metro Maricopa and Pima county. Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Arizona will cover the state’s remaining 13 counties.

3. Blue Cross Blue Shield’s Senior Vice President of Strategy, Sales and Marketing Jeff Stelnik said to AZcentral, “We are starting to see some signs of stability.”

4. Centene CEO Michael Neidorff said in an earnings call it made sense to continue being the only payer offering ACA coverage in Maricopa County.
