ACA sign ups approaching 1.5M after 2nd week — 4 insights

Another 800,000-plus people signed up for insurance through the Affordable Care Act exchanges after the second week of open enrollment, increasing total enrollment to nearly 1.5 million, Reuters reports.

Here’s what you should know:

1. Enrollment through the first two weeks of open enrollment is greater this year than last.

2. President Donald Trump’s administration decreased the ACA enrollment period from 12 weeks to six weeks. He also slashed advertising budgets for the ACA by 90 percent.

3. Additionally, the administration cut funding for groups that enroll people into the ACA.

4. Enrollment closes Dec. 15.
