ACA enrollment hits 4M: 3 takeaways

During the first six weeks of the 2017 ACA sign-up period, more than 4 million Americans signed up for coverage via HealthCare.gov, according to Chicago Tribune.

Here are three takeaways:

1. Of the 4 million, 1.1 million are new customers and 2.9 million are renewals.

2. This figure does not include sign-ups in those states that run their own exchanges. The report only features the 39 states that use the federal HealthCare.gov marketplace.

3. Officials extended the deadline to sign up to Dec. 19, 2016.
