AAOS taps partner to help orthopedic practices improve cash flow, payment processes — 5 things to know

The American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons aims to help its 39,000 members improve the financial experience for patients through a new partnership with CareCredit, a credit card business for health, wellness and personal care.

Five things to know:

1. The partnership is intended to help orthopedic practices improve the financial experience with educational tools and resources, and to help them improve cash flow by giving patients a convenient way to pay their rising out-of-pocket costs.

2. CareCredit offers payment options that allow patients to pay deductibles, copays, co-insurance and other out-of-pocket healthcare costs over time.

3. Approved cardholders can use the CareCredit credit card throughout CareCredit's network of more than 230,000 healthcare locations and select health-focused retailers.

4. More than 30 specialty areas, including physical therapy, ASCs and anesthesiology, have adopted CareCredit's solutions.

5. The company has partnerships with the Medical Group Management Association, the American Dental Association, the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and the American Osteopathic Information Association.
