84% of medical personnel are unsure of MACRA's requirements, survey finds: 3 takeaways

Providers spanning the nation are unsure about what CMS' Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act will require of their practice, according to a survey Irvine, Calif.-based Kareo conducted.

Kareo provides clinical and business management software to independent medical practices.Kareo polled more than 170 medical practices.

Here are three takeaways:

1. Eighty-four percent of providers said they are not sure what MACRA's Quality Payment Program will require of their practice.

2. Despite this uncertainty, 85 percent said they will participate in MACRA to the best of their ability.

3. Dan Rodrigues, founder and CEO of Kareo said, "The survey results highlight a trend we have seen at Kareo in recent years. Independent practitioners want to stay independent so they want to participate in programs like MACRA and avoid possible penalties. But they need help to do it. The addition of the 'Pick Your Pace' options in the final rule is a step in the right direction."
