6 Basic Ways to Boost Healthcare Coder Productivity

Canadians experienced about a 40 percent drop in coding productivity for up to six months prior to the ICD-10 transition, and American healthcare providers can put processes in place to avoid such a disruption, according to ICD-10 Watch.

Technical tools, such as computer-assisted coding, can help coders be quicker and more productive, but simple changes can also be effective, according to the report.

Here are five more ways to help boost coders’ productivity:

•    Provide large or multiple computer monitors
•    Limit keystrokes to complete tasks
•    Increase the office temperature – cold employees have been shown to be more distracted and less productive
•    Offer remote coding options
