The survey explored the effect of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act on health insurance coverage. The survey found that 74 percent of Americans without health insurance are likely to obtain coverage starting in 2014. According to federal estimates, around 50 million Americans are uninsured.
According to the survey, uninsured people are “extremely price-sensitive,” meaning federal subsidies will play a major role in drawing consumers to health insurance exchanges. If failing subsidies drive consumers back to the ranks of the uninsured, the survey found that middle-income consumers will suffer more than their poorer counterparts.
