The Joint Commission, CDC team up for infection prevention in ambulatory setting: 5 key notes

The Joint Commission and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention are collaborating on a new initiative related to infection prevention and control in the ambulatory healthcare setting.

Here are five key notes:

1. The effort is supported through the CDC Safety and Healthcare Epidemiology Prevention Research Development contract.

2. The new program is called the Adaptation and Dissemination Outpatient Infection PrevenTion Guidance — ADOPT. The program will focus on free-standing ambulatory settings and services.

3. The Joint Commission will work with 12 outpatient organizations and 10 ambulatory healthcare systems to engage in infection prevention and control.

4. The program will create a model of infection control plans and expand research, uptake and adoption of infection prevention and control guidance materials.
