Southwest Virginia Community Health Systems was officially certified in ambulatory healthcare by The Joint Commission. Here’s what you should know.

1. The health system has five clinical locations and a corporate headquarters at the Thomas K. McKee hospital.

2. The system provides a variety of services from primary health to telemedicine and several others.

3. The system was started in 1979 in one site shared between a private dentist, a private physician and the local health department.

4. The system first earned its accreditation in 2000, the same year it added telemedicine services.
