The Joint Commission accredits Sanford Health’s total joint replacement center: 3 insights

The Joint Commission awarded Sanford Health’s total joint replacement center in Bismarck, N.D., its total joint accreditation, the Bismarck Tribune reports.

Here’s what you should know.

1. The Joint Commission surveyed the Bismarck center in January 2017. The Joint Commission identified length of stay as an initial issue. Since the survey, the center lowered its length of stay from four days to two days for total knee and hip replacement patients.

2. The total joint replacement center opened in 2013.

3. Five surgeons practice out of the center with a majority of patients coming from western North Dakota.
