Staff Education Tool: 'Needlestick Injuries – A Nurse's Story' Video

The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health, a part of the CDC, offers a free, nine-minute video featuring an interview with Diane Mawyer, a nurse whose life was changed by a sharps injury that infected her with hepatitis C.

 

The video, titled "Needlestick Injuries – A Nurse's Story," can be shown and discussed at staff meetings.

 

The program lends itself to organizational intranet sites as well as informational kiosks in your facility.

The video is a resource of the NIOSH STOP STICKS Campaign, which was developed to raise awareness of the dangers of sharps injuries and to provide tools so that others can conduct their own campaign in order to reduce the number of sharps injuries.
