According to the complaint, Dr. Sheikh removed a tumor from the patient’s colon in 2005. Testing showed the tumor was cancerous, but Dr. Sheikh allegedly did not notify the patient for two years. The patient wasn’t made aware of the cancer until her primary care physician conducted a CAT scan that revealed the cancerous mass had spread to other parts of her body, according to the report.

The patient underwent treatment for the cancer but died in 2008 from complications stemming from the colon cancer. Dr. Sheikh has 30 days to respond to the board’s complaint.
