PSA says the tool, a sample questionnaire, is not meant to substitute for a sleep disorder evaluation by a qualified physician, but it may help organizations identify at-risk patients during the preoperative period.

The tool provides nine questions to ask patients and advises staff members to alert their anesthesia provider if patients answer “yes” to any of the questions.
