For their study, researchers developed a tool for measuring nurse-physician communications. Researchers also conducted interviews with physicians and nurses and distributed surveys to nurses in three ICUs. Results from their research showed nurses reporting the weakest safety culture in their ICU also reported “the least satisfaction” in their communication with physicians.
