Patient Safety Tool: 5 Safe Injection Practices Posters

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, since 1999 there have been more than 125,000 patients in the United States who have been notified of potential exposure to hepatitis B virus, hepatitis C virus and HIV due to unsafe injection practices.

 

Many of these incidents involved healthcare providers reusing syringes, resulting in contamination of medication vials or containers which were used then on subsequent patients.

To help your organization raise awareness among its physicians, staff and patients about safe injection practices, below are links to five free, downloadable safe injection practices posters. The first four were developed by the One & Only Campaign, a public health campaign led by the CDC and Safe Injection Practices Coalition. The fifth was developed by the Wisconsin Department of Health Services.
