The Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care accredited Traverse City-based Northwest Michigan Health Services.

Here’s what you should know.

1. Northwest Michigan Health Services opened in 1968. It provides medical and dental care to seven counties in Northwest Lower Michigan.

2. The system has four clinics throughout Northwest Michigan. The Benzonia, Traverse City and Shelby clinics offer both medical and dental services. The Onekama – Bear Lake Clinic is medical only.

3. The system is one of 40 federally qualified health centers in Michigan.
