Parvez Dara, MD, an oncologist from Toms River, N.J., has had his medical license revoked after 29 of his patients tested positive for Hepatitis B, according to a Statehouse Bureau report.
According to Deputy Attorney General Siobhan Krier, parts of Dr. Dara's practice were "extremely contaminated." This includes blood stains on the floor and containers and unwrapped syringes exposed to chemotherapy fumes. Ms. Krier added Dr. Dara's employees also washed their hands in a sink close to where medications were prepared.
In addition to the revocation of his license for four years, Dr. Dara has been ordered by the stated medical board to pay $30,000 in civil penalties.
