The certification launched in October 2018, making the ASC among the first to receive it. The certification builds off existing association accreditation and recognizes an ASC’s approach to using evidence-based guidelines and performance improvement strategies related to outpatient joint replacement surgery.
The three-year certification was designed by a panel of experts in total joint and spine surgery. In addition to the total joint certification, ASCs can pursue certification for spine, or a program that combines both.
The Minnesota Valley Surgery Center is the third ASC to receive the certification, alongside Surgery Center of Long Beach (Calif.) and the Gold Coast Surgicenter in Chicago.
