Joint Commission Receives Clarification on Aetna Payments for In-Office Pathology Testing

Aetna has clarified its new reimbursement policy for in-office surgical pathology testing, according to a news release from The Joint Commission.

Aetna now requires Joint Commission accreditation of in-office pathology laboratories in order to receive payment for surgical pathology services. The Joint Commission has scheduled a teleconference to help organizations meet the Aug. 1 deadline set by Aetna to meet the accreditation requirements. The teleconference is scheduled for May 16.
