Joint Commission surveyors began evaluating facility compliance with these standards in Jan. 2011, but findings did not affect whether the facilities received accreditation. While two of the patient-centered communication standards were implemented in order to align with CMS’ Conditions for Participation on visitation rights, the rest of the requirements will not go into effect until July 2012.
