Joint Commission Announces Revisions to Critical Access Hospital Credentialing Requirements

The Joint Commission has announced revised credentialing and quality assurance requirements for critical access hospitals that are members of a rural health network.

The §485.616(b) Standard: Agreements for Credentialing and Quality Assurance states that each critical access hospital belonging to a rural health network should have a credentialing and quality assurance agreement with at least one hospital that also belongs to the network, one QIO or equivalent or one other qualified entity.
