Iowa Physician Publicly Reprimanded for Multiple Failures in Providing Appropriate Care

Kimberly A. Neuharth, MD, who practices family medicine in Panora, Iowa, has entered into a combined statement of charges and settlement agreement with the Iowa Board of Medicine.

The board charged Dr. Neuharth with failing to provide appropriate supervision to a physician assistant in 2006; failing to refer patients with complex sleep and psychiatric disorders to specialists in 2009; failing to provide appropriate care to a child who presented to Guthrie County Hospital in 2010; and failing to maintain appropriate medical records.

Dr. Neuharth completed a board-ordered clinical competency evaluation and was issued a public reprimand by the medical board. Under the terms of the settlement agreement, Dr. Neuharth must also restrict her pain management practice; prenatal care; inpatient and outpatient care. The board also placed Dr. Neuharth on indefinite probation subject to the board’s monitoring.
