The Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care granted the accreditation earlier this year. Here are five things to know about GI Associates & Endoscopy Center:
1. The American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy recognized the center as a Center of Excellence.
2. James H. Johnston III, MD, Billy Long, MD, and James Q. Sones, MD, opened the practice in 1981. The physicians opened the outpatient endoscopy center in 2001.
3. This year, the group decided to build a new facility to house the clinic, procedure areas, infusion and imaging under one roof.
4. GI Associates has more than 250 employees, including 23 gastroenterologists and two pathologists. The practice has three locations.
5. The practice partners with Wake Research on clinical trials and GI-related research.
