APIC Position Paper on Influenza Vaccination for Healthcare Personnel

Organizations nationwide are considering whether to institute an influenza vaccination policy. In just the past few weeks, hospitals in Wisconsin, Massachusetts and Michigan have announced such policies.

 

In January, the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology published a position paper titled, "Influenza Vaccination Should Be a Condition of Employment for Healthcare Personnel, Unless Medically Contraindicated."

As the title suggests, APIC's position is receiving an influenza vaccination should be a condition of employment for healthcare workers, unless there are compelling medical contraindications.
