The aim of the course is to guide ASCs in making sure they meet CMS requirements for infection control. The course will follow an actual CMS surveyor worksheet so participating ASC staff members can keep a keen eye on how to better their infection control programs.
This course will follow four specific modules:
• Sterilization and high-level disinfection, including reprocessing of single use devices.
• Hand hygiene practices, including monitoring and suggestions to improve compliance.
• Critical environmental infection control practices.
• Practices related to point of care devices and infection practices.
Registered participants have four months to complete the course. After completion of the course and a course evaluation, course students will earn 6.8 contact hours and a printed certificate, according to a news release by AORN.
