Alabama’s Certificate of Need Review Board approved two hospital-converted ASCs focused on orthopedic and pain management services, according to a Sept. 22 report from The National Law Review.
The board approved a multi-specialty ASC in Homewood, converting four existing operating rooms and four procedure rooms from Baptist Health Brookwood Hospital. The board also approved a similar facility in Homewood, converting four operating rooms and four procedure rooms from Baptist Health Princeton Hospital. Both applications drew no opposition.
Alabama remains one of 37 states with certificate-of-need laws in effect.
