AHA, ACC to offer cardiovascular accreditation services: 3 things to know

The American Heart Association and the American College of Cardiology will begin to offer hospitals and other healthcare organizations access to cardiovascular accreditation services, Clarksville Online reports.

Here's what you should know.

1. The organization will begin offering accreditation services in 2017.

The process will include all aspects of cardiac car.

2. The professional organizations will offer a set of improvement tools to "bridge gaps and integrate evidence-based science, quality initiatives, clinical best-practices and the latest ACC/AHA guidelines into their cardiovascular care processes."

3. The ACC is able to offer accreditation services because of its recent acquisition of the Society of Cardiovascular Patient Care. The SCPC has accredited more than 1,000 facilities over 18 years.

AHA has offered accreditation services for more than a decade.
