AAAHC-accredited center to know: Alaska Surgery Center

The Anchorage-based Alaska Surgery Center achieved accreditation from the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care.

Here are three things to know:

1. Alaska Surgery Center is a Surgical Care Affiliates center.

2. The center is a partnership between SCA and 32 local physicians. The center was started in 1977 by a group of eight physicians and dentists as a lower cost alternative to hospital treatment.

3. The center has treated 140,000-plus patients to date, offering anesthesiology, gynecology, neurosurgery, ophthalmology, orthopedic surgery and pain management procedures, among others.
