7 Statistics on Surgery Center Outcomes for Single-Specialty Orthopedic ASCs From the ASC Association (2Q 2011)

Here are seven statistics on single-specialty orthopedic ambulatory surgery center outcomes from the ASC Association's Outcomes Monitoring Project 2nd Quarter (April-June) 2011 Report, which saw more than 600 ASCs participating in the survey.

 

1. On average, 60.4% of patient encounters started on time.

 

2. 75% had a days in accounts receivable rate of 49.6 or less.

 

3. Average OR use rate was 47%.

 

4. On average, these ASCs received .6 complaints per 1,000 patient encounters.

 

5. These ASCs reported a median of 2.0 unscheduled direct transfers per 1,000 patient encounters.

 

6. The average return to surgery rate was .1 per 1,000 patient encounters.

 

7. The average cancellation rate (after admission, before anesthesia because of a medical condition) was .6%.
