The top three challenges facing ASCs today, according to the report, are:
1. Attracting and retaining surgeons and other physicians who will contribute to the facility’s bottom line.
2. Hospital dominance in environments already saturated with ASCs.
3. Payment.
The report notes that in a Becker’s ASC Review article, Kim White, a consultant with Numerof & Associates, said “Going forward, ASCs are going to need to do three things to really survive: demonstrate economic and clinical value, demonstrate efficiencies and meet quality standards.” This advice is applicable to anesthesiology groups as well, according to the report.
