Los Angeles-based Keck School of Medicine of USC has appointed Earl Strum, MD, as chair of its anesthesiology department.
Dr. Strum is a clinical professor of anesthesiology and population and public health sciences at the university and has served as interim anesthesiology chair for the past eight months, according to an April 17 news release from the Keck School of Medicine.
While serving in an interim capacity, Dr. Strum has advanced a strategic vision centered on operational efficiency, workforce stabilization, cost containment, faculty recruitment and retention and academic growth.
He is also a founding anesthesiologist of the USC Liver Transplant Program.
Dr. Strum has more than three decades of experience in clinical care, medical education, research and institutional leadership, the release said.
