1. Dr. Carey was an assistant professor in the department of anesthesiology and director of the Anesthesiology Pre-operative Clinic at UNM Health Sciences Center.

2. Dr. Carey completed his anesthesiology residency at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore.

3. He died unexpectedly in his home.

4. UNM Health Sciences Center organized a memorial service for Dr. Carey on Nov. 17.
