The one-year training program is designed to advance the science, skills and knowledge of regional anesthesia techniques and practice, including acute perioperative and outpatient management, according to a department release. Assistant professor of anesthesiology Lise Asaro, MD, will serve as fellowship director.
The program is approved for one fellow per year, and the first fellow will begin training in July 2012. The program will include two training sites: Kernan Orthopedics and Rehabilitation Hospital and the University of Maryland Medical Center, both in Baltimore.
