University of Kentucky appoints Dr. Mark Newman EVP for health affairs — 3 insights

Lexington-based University of Kentucky named anesthesiologist Mark Newman, MD, its new executive vice president for health affairs.

1. Dr. Newman currently serves as president of Durham, N.C.-based Private Diagnostic Clinic.

2. Dr. Newman will begin his tenure as the EVPHA on Oct. 1.

3. Dr. Newman succeeds Michael Karpf, MD, who led UK HealthCare for almost 15 years. He helped grow the system into a $1.5 billion enterprise during his tenure.
