The Omaha-based University of Nebraska Medical Center’s department of anesthesiology has appointed Peter Pellegrino, MD, PhD, as the first director of its new Anesthesiology Clinical and Translational Research Program.

The program aims to expand clinical research, streamline trial processes and bridge laboratory discoveries to patient care. It will also provide mentorship, grant support and infrastructure to help faculty and trainees advance research projects, according to an Oct. 2 system news release.

The initiative seeks to make research more accessible while building on the department’s ongoing clinical trials and translational efforts.

At the Becker’s 32nd Annual Meeting: The Business and Operations of ASCs, taking place October 29-31 in Chicago, ASC leaders, surgeons and healthcare executives will explore strategies to drive growth, enhance operational performance, navigate reimbursement challenges and prepare for the future of ambulatory surgery.
