John Wasnick, MD, chairman of the Texas Tech Department of Anesthesiology, will receive the Steven L. Berk, MD, Endowed Chair in Medical Excellence from UMC Health System.

“UMC is a better hospital because of the services of Dr. Wasnick,” said Mike Ragain, MD, UMC chief medical officer and senior vice president. “This endowment will strengthen the anesthesia department and its residency program.”

Dr. Wasnick, who joined the Texas Tech Health Sciences Center in 2010, leads the school’s anesthesia residency program while maintaining an active cardiac anesthesia practice.
