The report includes data from a survey that polled 413,386 U.S. physicians. Around 31,400 physicians were from 25 specialty areas. The fieldwork was conducted by Medscape from Oct. 16 to Dec. 4 2013.
When asked to describe their political leanings, anesthesiologists reported the following:
• Fiscally conservative and socially liberal — More than 40 percent
• Fiscally conservative and socially conservative — Between 30 and 40 percent
• Fiscally liberal and socially conservative — Less than 10 percent
• Fiscally liberal and socially liberal — Between 10 and 20 percent
• Prefer not to say — Less than 10 percent
