Study: PhysioFlow Device Not a Reliable Indicator of Cardiac Output Level in Pediatric Patients

PhysioFlow bioimpedance cardiography was not sufficiently accurate when used to measure cardiac output states in pediatric patients, according to a study published in the April issue of Anesthesia & Analgesia

The study authors sought to evaluate the reliability and accuracy of cardiac output measurement using PhysioFlow in pediatric patients with and without cardiac disease that were undergoing anesthesia for MRIs.

Research concluded that modifications of the algorithm and further testing are required before the PhysioFlow device can be recommended for routine clinical use in pediatric patients.
