The latest Vital Health Report by the ASA also revealed that 40 percent of respondents believe being under general anesthesia is the same as being asleep and nearly 20 percent believe general anesthesia numbs part of the body but does not affect patient awareness.
The ASA has created a resource called “Know Your Vital Health Tool” to help patients learn more about their health status and anesthesia risks while offering suggestions for health improvement.
