Somnia Anesthesia Services Appoints New Quality Assurance Officer

Somnia Anesthesia Services has appointed Hugh Morgan to the newly created position of Quality Assurance Officer, under which Mr. Morgan will direct Somnia’s Clinical Quality Excellence Program and assume oversight of clinical quality for the anesthesia practices the company manages for hospitals and ambulatory surgery centers across the county, according to a Somnia news release.

Mr. Morgan will report to Somnia Chief Medical Officer and Executive Vice President, Robert Goldstein, MD. He has over 15 years of experience in hospital and physician practice management as well as consulting for academic, community, military and tertiary care facilities, according to the release.

“Hugh is a highly talented QA professional with a strong record of accomplishment in healthcare services management, and he understands our industry inside and out,” Dr. Goldstein said in the release. “Since its inception, Somnia has been committed to delivering clinical quality to every client, and Hugh is the ideal executive to build on that ongoing commitment to clinical excellence as a key differentiator for every Somnia solution.”

Mr. Morgan joined Somnia full time in 2010 after a year of serving as a consultant for the company. He previously served as the director for anesthesia and periopoerative medicine at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center in Atlantic City, N.J., and has worked at hospitals in various management roles since 1994, according to the release.
