The post references new research into POCD and a specific focus on POCD in the May 2011 issue of Anesthesia & Analgesia.

Somnia also notes that the International Anesthesia Research Society does not know if anesthesia has an effect on the decline of cognitive functions of some patients, thus indicating the need for more research into POCD which considers all patient risk factors.
