What you should know:
1. Mr. Young is a nurse practitioner at the GeneXis Health clinic in Jackson, Tenn., The Jackson Sun reports. Mr. Young allegedly prescribed about 1.4 million opioids and 1,500 fentanyl patches over three years.
2. Mr. Young allegedly exchanged drugs for sexual favors and publicity for a reality television show called “Rock Doc TV,” which was about Mr. Young’s clinic and his “Rock ‘n’ Roll” lifestyle.
3. In addition, Mr. Young allegedly saw patients while drunk or under the influence of drugs.
4. The indictment states that “Young used his power to prescribe controlled substances to promote his television pilot and his podcast, and to have sex with women, including women who were his patients.”
5. An attorney for Mr. Young denied any wrongdoing to The Jackson Sun.
6. The charges against the “Rock Doc” were part of the Department of Justice’s Appalachian Regional Prescription Strike Force Takedown, a large opioid bust resulting in charges against 60 individuals, 53 of whom are medical professionals. The bust accounted for more than 350,000 prescriptions and more than 32 million individual pills.
