Mr. Mira discusses a recent malpractice lawsuit involving an anesthesiologist who was allegedly distracted by emails, texts and accessing the internet, resulting in the death of a patient.
This issu is further complicated by the fact that anesthesiologists often use personal devices in the OR to improve patient care and safety, and could ultimately benefit a patient undergoing a procedure.
According to Mr. Mira, ultimately, anesthesiologists need to use electronic technology and personal devices in ways that they would want them used if their family member was the patient.
