California, the state with the largest population, has the most active anesthesiologists while Wyoming, the state with the smallest population, has the fewest, according to May data from KFF.

Anesthesia practice management provider Premier Anesthesia has promoted Miguel Cervantes, MD, and Anthony Dominic, DO, to regional medical director positions.

The average annual wage for an anesthesiologist is $302,970, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Matthew Meyer, MD, associate professor of anesthesiology at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, spoke with Becker's to discuss how ASCs can leverage their unique positions to recruit anesthesia staff.
