Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan buys PhyMed

PhyMed Healthcare Group has been sold to Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan, according to a report by The Tennessean.

PhyMed was sold by Excellere Partners, a private equity fund. It is the parent company of Anesthesia Medical Group, Lebanon Anesthesia Associates and Anesthesia Services of Middle Tennessee. The company employs more than 350 anesthesia providers.

The Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan is the largest single-profession pension plan in Canada. Ontario Teachers makes healthcare investments under its healthcare and consumer retail group, which is under its Teachers’ Private Capital unit that makes private equity investments, according to the report.
