ONC names Dr. Andrew Gettinger CMIO: 3 observations

The Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology named Andrew Gettinger, MD, chief medical information officer, according to an ASA report.

Here are three important observations:

1. Dr. Gettinger is a professor of anesthesiology and associate dean for clinical informatics at the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth in Hanover, N.H.

2. He gained significant health IT expertise after leading the development of an electronic health record system at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center.

3. Dr. Gettinger is also acting director of ONC’s Office of Clinical Quality and Safety.
