Anesthesiologist Gentian Meta, MD, of Edmond, Okla., has paid $50,000 in civil penalties after allegations that he violated the Comprehensive Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Act of 1970.
Dr. Meta allegedly failed to maintain documents related to the purchase of controlled substances, according to a June 15 report from Fox affiliate KOKH.
In addition, Dr. Meta did not properly record the date the controlled substances were received, and did not follow the requirements related to maintaining a biennial inventory.
The settlement does not admit to liability and allows all parties to avoid the delay, expense, inconvenience and uncertainty in litigating the case, the report said.
